Introduction
ACA International’s advocacy is a critical component of our overarching goal of helping our members in the accounts receivable management (ARM) industry succeed. The collections process plays a critical role in a healthy credit ecosystem.
- As businesses, hospitals, and other providers and lenders across the country continue to face unprecedented challenges as a result of the changing economy, inflation and labor fluctuations, the work of ACA members plays a critical role in protecting consumers’ access to credit while providing liquidity to lenders.
- As part of the process of attempting to recover outstanding payments, ACA members are an extension of every community’s businesses, utilities and governments.
- The ARM industry’s debt collection efforts benefit all consumers by lowering the costs of goods and services, especially when rising prices are impacting consumers’ quality of life throughout the country.
- Research from Federal Reserve banks, academics, and regulators reflects the industry’s integral role in maintaining a healthy economy. This research concludes that overly restrictive regulations on the collection process have led to a decrease in available credit and confirms the basic economic reality that losses from uncollected debts result in higher prices.
